Wolverhampton LGBT+ Alliance is hosting this year's Pride event, which is set to be the biggest and best our great city has ever seen.
The newly formed LGBT+ Alliance is a network of organisations, businesses and community groups that have come together to raise the profile of and to improve services to Wolverhampton's LGBT+ community and ultimately, to make Wolverhampton a better place to live, work and visit for everyone.
Wolves Pride 2017 takes place on Saturday 30th September from 12noon until 9pm on Wulfruna Street, the Civic Centre Ceremonial car park, St Peter's car park and the pedestrian area outside the University of Wolverhampton's Ambika Paul building. It will feature a broad range of music, live entertainment and performers, as well as a fantastic range of street food, bars, information stands, merchandise stalls, and a family area with fun activities for children.
Lesley Roberts, Wolverhampton Homes Chief Executive, said:
“Wolverhampton Homes has supported Wolverhampton Pride since the first event five years ago and this year we are proud to support it as part of the newly formed Wolverhampton LGBT Alliance. Pride gives us a wonderful opportunity to show how organisations can work together to improve services to the LGBT+ community in Wolverhampton.”
The Big Howl
Fancy becoming a World Record holder? This year's Pride event will see hundreds of local people gather at 4pm for what's being dubbed "The Big Howl", which will involve at least 1000 participants howling continuously for one minute. Canada hold the current record, but we're confident that we'll smash it on the 30th!
Ben Howley, Wolverhampton Homes staff member and Chair of Wolverhampton LGBT+ Alliance, said:
“As one of the sponsors behind the Wolves in Wolves project, we can’t wait to see people come together for the Big Howl, which we hope will see us take the world record and put the City of Wolverhampton on the map. Wolverhampton Homes is proud to be one of the organisers behind this year’s Pride event. We’re passionate about diversity and have supported Wolves Pride since 2012. This year’s Pride will see the launch of Wolverhampton LGBT+ Alliance, a network of organisations and businesses that have joined forces to improve services to the local LGBT+ community.”
